4:12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound; in any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and want. 4:13 I can do all things in him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:12-13 RSVKey Point: We are invited to experience joy through the gift of gratitude - despite our circumstances or “level” of living

How to experience gratitude despite circumstances
The secret of joy/contentment = _______________
What outside force is most likely to upset your joy, steal your contentment?
God does NOT cause evil – but can use it for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28)
Inside force - Maslow’s Pyramid of Needs
S __________ » Self __________ for others
S __________ » Self __________ for others
S __________ » Self __________ for others
Covenant World Relief - we experience fulfillment at a “_____” level of need by helping those at a “_____” level
And discovering that we are brought to a “_____” level
Missions Sunday experience

9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every infirmity.
9:36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
9:37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;
9:38 pray therefore the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

2:42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
2:43 And fear came upon every soul; and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
2:44 And all who believed were together and had all things in common;
2:45 and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.
2:46 And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they partook of food with glad and generous hearts,
2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.
Key Point: As we live out our Biblical 6 purposes we will experience deeper fellowship and have a greater impact on our community.
If RCC went away what loss would you feel?
What would the Rochester community feel?
What are our distinctives as a congregation?
What would make RCC more attractive to outsiders?
What did the early church experience that made it attractive?
What do we need to do to become a better “Community of the Christ the King”?

1:25 of which I became a minister according to the divine office which was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,
1:26 the mystery hidden for ages and generations but now made manifest to his saints.
1:27 To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
1:28 Him we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man mature in Christ.
1:29 For this I toil, striving with all the energy which he mightily inspires within me.
2:1 For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at La-odice’a, and for all who have not seen my face,
2:2 that their hearts may be encouraged as they are knit together in love, to have all the riches of assured understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, of Christ,
2:3 in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Key Point: Experiencing true fellowship helps us experience the goal for “Christ in you, the hope of glory” maturity for which we were created Spiritual maturity = ___________________________
Why bother?
Reassessing what goals we’re actually pursuing God’s goals for our lives “Christ in you, the hope of glory” means?
What indication do have that “Christ is in you?”
Tapestry of love
