Isaiah 6:1-7
Main Point: We need to look to Scripture in order to have a more full and clear view of who Jesus really is.
What do our experiences and what does culture say about Jesus?
1. Jesus is often viewed simply as a Failure.
2. Jesus is often viewed simply as a Foe.
3. Jesus is often viewed simply as a Friend.
What does Isaiah tell us about Jesus?
1. Jesus is not a Failure.
a. Isaiah 6:1; Job 1; James 2:19
2. Jesus is to be Feared.
a. Isaiah 6:2-5; Proverbs 1:7
3. Jesus is our Friend.
a. Isaiah 6:6-7; Colossians 1:13-14;
1 Peter 3:18; John 15:13

7:24 “Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. 7:25 The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because it had been founded on rock. 7:26 Everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 7:27 The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, and it collapsed; it was utterly destroyed!”
Matthew 7:24-27 NET

- What is one thing you feel you couldn’t go a day without?
- Jesus is our salvation from sin (Deuteronomy 32:15; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23, 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; 1 Peter 3:18)
- What do you find yourself doing that you think makes God love you more?
- Jesus is our refuge from the storms of life (2 Samuel 22:3; Psalm 18:2, 31:2, 62:7, 71:3, 94:22)
- Where do you often find yourself turning to when life gets hard?
- The world doesn’t agree!
- The Rock is foolishness to the world (1 Peter 2:4-8; 1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
- You will be persecuted because of the Rock (John 15:20)
- What are the identifying marks that show we’ve built our lives upon the Rock:
- Obedience (Matthew 7:24; John 14:21, 23; James 1:18)
- Praise (Psalm 40:1-3, 146:2)

12:1 Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service. 12:2 Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2
